On International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the closing event of #EVCapital Berlin and look back on a year full of engagement and committed people. What was moved? What were the main topics? Which actors came together and: Where should the journey go in the future? At the closing event with international guests, we will also hand over the baton to the next Volunteering Capital 2022 Gdansk, eagerly await the announcement of the Volunteering Capital 2023 and toast to volunteering with the Centre for European Volunteering (CEV) and you! And of course, there's also the opportunity to network because the commitment of this city continues!!!

On December 5, International Volunteer Day, we will celebrate the digital closing event of the European Volunteering Capital Berlin 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and look back on a year full of engagement and committed people. What has moved us and where should the journey go in the future? At the closing event, we will also pass the baton to the next European Volunteering Capital 2022 Gdansk, eagerly await the announcement of the European Volunteering Capital 2023, and raise a virtual toast to volunteering in our city with the Brussels Centre for European Volunteering and the Berlin volunteer community. This is a digital event that will be livestreamed for the general public from the Red City Hall.

In addition to a welcoming speech by State Secretary Sawsan Chebli and show acts by singer AYA and the winner of this year's #Farbenbekennen competition Shantal, there will be a panel discussion of well-known Berlin personalities with a connection to volunteering:

- Kaweh Niroomand (Managing Director Berlin Recycling Volleys).

- Elke Schilling (initiator and 1st chairwoman of Silbernetz e.V.)

At the end of the event, there will be an opportunity for digital networking. Three digital thematic rooms will be provided for this purpose (Neighborhood & Engagement, Open Source & Engagement, Migration & Engagement). The evening will be moderated by rbb presenter Petra Gute.

Berlin received the title of European Volunteering Capital in 2021. The title was awarded by the Centre for European Volunteering in recognition of what Berlin and its people do in terms of volunteering and voluntary work. The four focal points of the action year were innovation, digitization, diversity and Europe. The action year was organized by a project office under the auspices of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe and betterplace lab with the involvement of a steering committee with representatives from civil society, politics, administration and business. The motto of the 2021 action year was #EntdeckeDasWirInDir.  At the closing event, we will look back on the past year and venture a look into the future.
